This day was the whole reason we were in Hawaii – LIZ AND DAN GOT MARRIED! and two single people died. (as the saying goes)
Liz is a kindred spirit – a bosom buddy of sorts – an angel with no wings. We were roommates in college and helped get each other in and out of mischief for three years. She is such a good friend, she’s a poetic, noble, land-mermaid who has seen me through many tough times!
I’ve been to a ton of alumni weddings over the last few years, but this is one that I wouldn’t have missed for the world! You know my code: hoes before bros. Uteruses before duderuses… Ovaries before brovaries. Anyway…

In true Liz fashion, the accessories were on point! 🙂 Her besties Kate Spade and Kendra Scott made their appearance alongside a little island flora. After all, love fades away, but things? Things last forever.
Kammie (maid of honor) is Liz’s calming college friend, a fellow lover of off-beat comedy, and understands that not loving ’90s R&B is number three on the Oh No-Nos list. She helps us remember what’s important in life: Friends, waffles and work. Or waffles, friends, work. It doesn’t matter. But work is third. This wedding would not have been the same without her.
I walked past Dan relaxing by the pool mid-morning. I overheard him chatting to his mom. “I don’t want to do things. I want to not do things.” Eh, whatever… Treat yo self!
Dan, Dan, Dan… I couldn’t have given my blessing to a lesser man. (Not that you asked, you know, and I’m still a little hurt about that) Liz is a beautiful, talented, brilliant, powerful musk-ox…. I love the way you calm her down and the way she makes you smile. You’re a simple man Dan. You like pretty, dark haired women and breakfast food. I’m glad you’ve found your forever girl.
Who’s to say what works? You find somebody you like, and you roll the dice. A Kansas firecracker + A Grumpy old man = Dan and Liz 4eva!
Liz, you beautiful tropical fish. You’re smart as a whip and you’re cool under pressure. Your dress was the most beautiful object I’ve ever seen. It was like the Liz Thatcher Anderson of dresses. It was amazing.
I promised myself I was not going to cry, I’ve already broken that promise five times. Honestly? This moment was 5,000 times better than Candle in the Wind.
A couple kids stopped us on our way to the reception to snapchat with the Bride and Groom. I think this may have been Dan’s highlight of the day.
