The Harrison Family | An Afternoon at Home

Chris and Kammie | An Afternoon in Maui

Family Photography + Graduation Photos

I love a good blog space, and this is mine! Welcome! I’m Beckie and here at Woodfield Photography I create photographs that celebrate the people and  things you love. I’m also really into sharing about other awesome people and making big of the things that bring joy.

I’m a wedding and portrait photographer who creates colorful, bright, emotion filled images in California’s Central Valley and New Zealand. (Yeah, I know they’re half a world apart, but I call both home.)

Here I share my latest work, products I love, personal excursions, and helpful tips for getting the most out of your photos. If you have a question, recommendation, or see something you love, drop me a comment! <3

Personal Adventures + new images + diy's + giveaways + business updates

This year we’re celebrating Valentines Day a lit This year we’re celebrating Valentines Day a little differently. Instead of a fun date and gifts, we’ll be staying home and popping formula bottles for our sweet Valentine Elizabeth. 🎉🥰 Today was her due date, but she surprised us with a sudden and dramatic entrance into the world a couple of weeks ago. We are smitten. ❤️
It’s January 5th and I’m finally feeling ready It’s January 5th and I’m finally feeling ready for this new year and all the adventures it holds! Not going to lie, I cried a lot on Monday just processing the upcoming changes and all the unknowns. I’m blaming it on the hormones. 🙈😂
.
But now I’m ready and STOKED for 2022!! A few big things are happening this winter that I want to catch you up on:
.
1. I’m having a baby In February! Valentine Elizabeth Hawkins. 🥰 Or as I like to call her… my little Valley girl. I know she’s getting close because my TikTok is basically just pregnancy and birth advice with a sprinkling of cat videos. 😂 I’m on maternity leave till May but will still be taking inquiries and doing admin work around here.
.
2. I’m co-coordinating a conference at my church the first weekend of April. With the amount of planning we’ve done already, I think of @graceupongraceconference as my other baby. 😂 You’re so welcome to come if you want … the topic is on Unmet Expectations which seems timely for this first time mom. 🙌🏻
.
3. And finally… I’ve been working with the amazing @bellamavenstudio on creating a brand identity for all the photography I do with businesses. We already have a great visual direction and an incredible color pallete that I know will complement the kind of commercial imagery I create. It’s total magic! ✨✨
.
So… 2022… it’s going to be a crazy year and that’s just the start of it!! I’m excited but keeping an open mind and heart for the unexpected. Do you have big changes happening this year too? What does 2022 hold for you?
Being photographed locally is convenient (especial Being photographed locally is convenient (especially with kids😂) and can include meaningful activities and places that fit into your story. That kind of personal connection will always have my heart for photos, but if you're looking for something a little more grandiose, traveling to a National Park is a great option. 🥰 We're so lucky to have Yosemite and the coastal parks so 'close'. (I've also had my eye on Pinnacles lately and would love to spend an afternoon in the giant Redwoods if anyone was down for that.⛰🌲)
.
This Yosemite family session with the Porters was back in October - 'twas 45 degrees and crowded but still so green and golden. 😍 Fast forward to December and I was back in Yosemite for an engagement session. In just two months it looked like a completely different park! That whole valley was clouded over and covered in snow and the place was deserted. The dramatic change didn't damper the beauty at all, if anything, the snow was a treat in golden California. 🙈 Every time I photograph there I learn the park better and see new locations and vistas which make me more excited for whoever chooses that location next! Maybe that will be you this year?
✨I have so much gratitude for every one of you w ✨I have so much gratitude for every one of you who allowed me to photograph you in 2021. Being photographed is weird and makes you feel vulnerable… and for those of you with kids, sometimes I got to see parts of your family dynamic you’d rather not show. 😂🙈 Thank you for still hiring me to capture you, your loved ones, and some incredible memories from this year. It’s so worth it to have the images we made, and I’m glad I got to be part of that with you. ✨
.
Personally, this past year was physically exhausting (thanks to travel, covid, and pregnancy) and seemed to have flown by in a haze. Making this collage got me all in my feelings as I thought of the people I’ve celebrated with and the new clients and friends I’ve met along the way. This doesn’t even include the 18 weddings I assisted other photographers with and the personal events and trips I took - wow, when I see it laid out like this I’m overwhelmed with how much life was lived this year! Life’s going to look a little different in 2022 (more to come on that) but I hope it’s filled with as many friendly faces and genuine connections as this year.
.
Shoutout to @abbyharrisonphotographer for inspiring me to make this… and also being a client AND a photographer I assisted at weddings with this year. You’re the best. 🥰
Concrete is the best for melting into the backgrou Concrete is the best for melting into the background and letting YOU be the first thing you see in your family photos. Honestly, I could write a whole list of reasons why I love photographing amongst all the concrete of downtown… but I won’t bore ya. 😂 These photos tell it all. 🥰
.
Swipe to the end to see the first time I photographed Gina and Trevor. 13 years! 😳 Their family has grown a whole lot since then and the kids are SO fun! 😂
.
Also… if you love Gina’s earrings, check out @gigiandco.handmade 💕 She and her daughter make them together and her skill and attention to detail is incredible.
The days are cooling, the grass is turning golden The days are cooling, the grass is turning golden (dying 😂), and END OF YEAR SESSIONS ARE HERE!!! 🎉👏🏻🙌🏻
.
Literally my favorite time of the year. 🥳🍁🍂☀️ I get to see all my favorite families within a couple months and photograph them growing up. Do you get family photos every year? or is it a bit more sporadic?
